Our porch: 92 Lorimer Ave
THE LAZY SUSANS are five working moms from Milton, MA, who started a band in the heart of the pandemic — no musical experience required — and played their first set six months later at the 2021 Milton Porchfest. Eight months after that, they were playing original music on national TV as guests on the Kelly Clarkson Show. With influences ranging from Liz Phair to Lizzo, they’ve been writing original songs, booking gigs around the Boston area, and encouraging other newbie musicians to follow their dreams.
HIGH PLANES is a Rhode Island band that leans heavily into vocal harmony and rich instrumentation. Their sophomore album, “Ghost Town,” won the 2022 Motif RI Music Awards, “Americana Album of the Year,” and their latest full-length, “Sweet Vacancy,” was nominated in the same category for the 2025 awards. Featuring members who have played in some of RI’s prominent ska, reggae, jazz, stoner rock and indie bands, their style is best described as a messy blend of it all.
BIRD & AUGUR is a Rhode Island–based anticapitalist folk duo inspired by the traditions of solidarity and resistance that shape labor songs, protest anthems, and global folk music. With rich harmonies, intricate fingerpicking, and heartfelt storytelling, Bo Fage (they/them, guitar) and James Cappelletti (he/him, banjo) lend their voices to an ongoing reckoning with systems of violence and control. Their music invites listeners to build community, and to attend to the signs, the stories, and the unfolding future that still responds to care and intention.
From the organizers: Join us for an afternoon of music and community on neighborhood porches (or driveways or lawns) from more than 130 artists at over 80 locations around the East Side. It’s free for everyone to attend, all thanks to the support of musicians and hosts.
We encourage you to support music in our area. Many of the Porchfest artists play locally, and we hope you can see them in action at venues in and around Providence.
